Dampers for Special Applications SV RailLine 70 Series dampers

The SV RailLine 70-series dampers are unique damper design introduced by SV for many applications. These robust and longlife products can be used for example as Yaw or Lateral dampers.

Unique features of SV RailLine

  • Robust construction resulting in a long service life
  • Unique non-wearable seals, guarantees non leaking
    operation for extreme operation life
  • Symmetrical or non symmetrical force in extension
    and compression
  • Maintainable construction (with welded or threaded
    dust cover tube)
  • Available also as adjustable version
  • Non metallic guide surfaces in piston and piston rod
  • High quality silent blocks
  • Noise-free valve systems

Special dampers can be used for example as Yaw or Lateral dampers

SV-SHOCKS Railway Special Damper

Displacement dependent Damper (softer damping area in middle)

This damper type can be used to increase comfort when damper is working on nominal length, while damper offers needed stability outside of softer middle area.
Softer area can be built to any length and damping forces can be tailor made according to application needs.

See example graph “Displacement dependent Damper” showing functionality at 0,1m/s.

Displacement dependent Damper (stiffer damping area in middle)

This is similar as above, but functionality is turned upside down.
For example, Yaw damper, stiffer when train is driving straight and softer in bigger turnings (depot, stations).

On/Off damper

This damper type has an electrically controlled valve. When valve is opened damper is completely soft.
Designed especially for Yaw-dampers, stiffer when train is driving straight and softer in bigger turnings (depot, stations).

See example graph “ON_Off-Yaw”.

Stroke length dependent (frequency dependent damper)

With short term strokes damping forces are stiffer and as specified, but when stroke time continues for example over 1-1,5s to one direction the additional valve is automatically opening and damping forces at low velocities are reduced.
Forces are reduced only at the lowest velocities while there is no effect for example at velocities over 0,05m/s or 0,1m/s (velocity can be selected according to needs).
We can build this function for extension direction only (easier) or for both directions.
Especially when this function is needed in both directions the dampers internal length is increased little.

See example of damping force vs velocity graph “YAW (Stroke length dependent)”

Specially developed for an extremely long operational life

These high quality products are designed to provide a fully maintenance free operation until the next planned major overhaul of the bogies. In many cases our RailLine products are in use even after 15-25 years. This important fact demonstrates the minimal maintenance required.

Even after a very long operational life time, depending on the configuration, the product may be overhauled in a specialized workshop.
